One of the most common phrases I've heard for years is "The process is broken". What this means to most people who are looking for meaningful work is that there are too many unnecessary steps, too little transprency and not enough follow through in the hiring process today.
I named my company Texume (Tex-u-me) to solve all of the obvious elements that frustrate every participant involved with recruiting people to a new company.
1.) Texas companies that are looking for great employees.
2.)You "U" the person looking for a better position.
3.)The headhunter "me" the one who should be making the process easier for everyone else involved.
Lets start with the problems companies have with the hiring process. First, companies have have a tendency to put out job requirements that are unrealistic at times. Purple unicorns don't exist! Neither do CPA's who are secretly computer software engineers willing to work for $20 an hour. We ask the tough questions from these companies, for example is it truly necessary that the person who fills this $70,000 a year role have 7 years big 4 accounting experience. We don't take roles we know we cannot fill and we push-back on unrealistic job requirements.
Second, lets talk about what you want in your next role. You are clearly here for a reason. You either feel trapped in a role where you are undervalued, underpaid, overworked etc... Some are looking for that first role out of school or even looking to make a career change. These are VERY important details and we want to make sure that we are listening to you very carefully. Lets not waste time trying to plug you into just any role, lets find the right mix of culture, salary and work with plenty of time outside of the office (work / life balance).
Third, there is me. My goal is to presenet you with the best opportunities in roles at great companies you might not be aware of, or where you may not be able to get an interview on your own. For the great companies that are looking to hire the best and the brightest, we send the best people who can successfully complete the duties of the position, while being reliable and fun to work with.
Finally, when these three groups of people all come together and communicate openly and honestly, the process is much smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved. The process matters. From a personal stand point one of the best experiences I've had during my time in accounting is interviewing at a company where I didn't get the job. After my third and final interview I received an email detailing some constructive feedback about what they liked about my background and why they chose another candidate. We want the process to be smooth and enjoyable so that great people find great companies.
